Description

  • Architect and deliver multi-tenant commerce services for checkout, subscriptions, payments, invoicing, and tax.
  • Own protobuf and ConnectRPC API conventions, versioning, compatibility, and deprecation practices.
  • Design resilient payment systems using idempotency, retries, circuit breakers, Saga/outbox patterns, and graceful degradation.
  • Ensure auditability through ledgers, immutable event streams, traceability, and financial reconciliation.
  • Define error contracts, compensating actions, backfills, and automated replay across failure domains.
  • Own service catalogs, SLO scorecards, infrastructure limits, capacity planning, and operational standards.
  • Lead observability, production excellence, incident response, disaster recovery, and multi-region strategies.
  • Embed security and compliance controls for PCI scope reduction, secrets management, privacy, and data retention.
  • Establish developer enablement practices including service templates, ADRs, contract testing, and performance tooling.
  • Provide organization-wide technical leadership through design reviews, mentoring, hiring, roadmap planning, and cross-functional partnership.

Requirements

  • 10+ years building and operating backend systems, including 5+ years with Go.
  • 2–3+ years as a Staff or Principal Engineer or technical lead for critical systems.
  • Proficiency with protobuf, ConnectRPC/gRPC, API lifecycle management, versioning, compatibility, contract testing, and Buf.
  • Strong distributed-systems knowledge, including idempotency, deduplication, ordering, backpressure, and concurrency control.
  • Experience with GCP Pub/Sub, Redis, MongoDB or Firestore, ClickHouse, Kubernetes/GKE, and CI/CD.
  • Experience operating scalable Kubernetes environments with autoscaling, PDBs, resource controls, multi-region topologies, and canary or blue-green deployments.
  • Expertise in reliability engineering, including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, load testing, incident management, and disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of security, PCI fundamentals, KMS, secrets management, data retention, and compliance practices.
  • Experience with unit, integration, contract, property-based, and performance testing.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills; Vue.js and TanStack Query collaboration experience preferred.
  • Experience with payment service providers, local payment rails, active-active systems, chaos engineering, OpenTelemetry, FinOps, or PCI DSS/SOC 2/ISO 27001 preferred.
