Description

  • Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Drive cross-organizational initiatives to build observability solutions.
  • Work with a globally distributed engineering team focused on Elasticsearch logs and metrics capabilities.
  • Improve coding standards and system behavior by reducing complexity and increasing architectural clarity.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and technical mentor across the engineering organization.
  • Triage, resolve, and review issues and pull requests with a global community.
  • Write and maintain modern Java code for Elasticsearch’s core systems.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing high-performance, scalable database or search engine technologies.
  • Ability to drive technical initiatives across organizations.
  • Strong collaboration skills across functions, teams, and distributed environments.
  • Ability to work autonomously using asynchronous, direct, and transparent communication.
  • Proven track record using AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code.
  • Prompt-engineering mindset with sound engineering judgment and awareness of AI limitations.
  • Experience implementing techniques to efficiently index, store, and query time-series or logs data.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
  • Strong core Java skills with deep understanding of concurrency primitives.
  • Ability to design and optimize efficient data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch is a plus.
  • Open source experience and familiarity with source control workflows and continuous integration is a plus.
  • Experience designing, leading, and owning cross-functional initiatives is a plus.
  • Background in database, search engine, OS, or cloud service development is a plus.

  • Base salary range of $154,000 to $243,600 CAD.
