Description

  • Provide solution-oriented legal advice to product, operational, and engineering teams from early development through launch.
  • Manage legal risk across product, operational, and engineering initiatives in collaboration with business partners.
  • Develop practical guidance on worker classification, AI and data governance, privacy, intellectual property, data licensing, and consumer protection.
  • Partner with legal colleagues across commercial, litigation, corporate, employment, IP, and privacy to deliver coordinated legal support.
  • Serve as a cross-functional connector and help build consensus across non-legal stakeholders.
  • Build playbooks and establish processes that scale the legal team’s advice and support.
  • Advise on domestic and international legal issues related to new and existing products and services.
  • Support the development of new products and services, including non-delivery tasks and AI data services.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of legal experience.
  • Prior experience in an in-house legal department.
  • Authorization to practice law in the U.S. state where the candidate is located.
  • Strong legal judgment and a business-first mindset in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of requests and balance competing priorities with limited direction.
  • Experience working on products that incorporate AI or using AI tools to improve work (preferred).
  • Prior product counseling experience (preferred).
  • Experience in the tech industry or on-demand economy (preferred).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML development, including data sourcing, labeling, and training data/model development issues (preferred).
  • Experience with data licensing, IP, or commercial agreements (preferred).
  • Knowledge of worker classification frameworks and gig/independent contractor issues (preferred).
  • Privacy expertise, including CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, biometric data, and sensitive data (preferred).
  • Experience advising on novel products or business lines without clear precedent (preferred).
