Description

  • Design and implement closed-loop vehicle controls, supervisory controls, thermal management, and auxiliary control algorithms for robot systems.
  • Build verification infrastructure such as test cases, plant models, and functional models to validate algorithm behavior.
  • Ship embedded control algorithms for various ECUs that operate the robot powertrain and other systems.
  • Test robot performance across simulation, component testing, and end-to-end road testing.
  • Continuously improve development processes, testing methods, bug triage, and overall robot performance.
  • Design features, systems, and processes that support internal customers such as robot operations, field service, autonomy software, and hardware teams.
  • Define and solve new problems as project needs evolve.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience developing and testing brushless motor controls.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building robots, autonomous vehicles, or other complex mechatronics systems.
  • Proficiency in model-based design using MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
  • Strong understanding of robotics or mechatronics fundamentals, including feedback control, sensors, actuators, embedded controllers, and CAN communication.
  • Working knowledge of C and Python.
  • Experience building physical models of mechatronic systems for simulation is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of road vehicle dynamics is preferred.
  • Experience with source control and build automation tools such as Git and Jenkins is preferred.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and complete design and task documentation is preferred.
