Description

  • Support the design and development of electrical controls hardware and control architectures for small to medium-scale material handling systems.
  • Read mechanical layouts and motor manifests to define electrical controls hardware based on customer specifications and operational requirements.
  • Prepare material lists and bills of materials (BOMs) for estimating and pricing.
  • Generate cost summaries and device counts for controls hardware in proposals.
  • Confer with sales engineers, project managers, customers, and others to clarify project specifications, scope, and design requirements.
  • Review bidding information and verify that all required documents match the scope of work.
  • Prepare preliminary scope questions to improve proposal accuracy.
  • Develop detailed controls hardware pricing estimates and system design drawings that comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Use company pricing tools and help improve them as hardware specifications evolve.
  • Communicate designs, ideas, and questions across teams to define scope and align on proposed solutions.
  • Travel to job sites as needed for design reviews, concept discussions, or site evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Foundational experience or education in electrical or controls engineering, such as power design, hardware design, or industrial control systems.
  • Knowledge of power and electrical load calculations.
  • Familiarity with UL and NEC codes is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex formulas, structured templates, and macros.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and improve spreadsheet automation for estimation and documentation tools.
  • Strong technical communication skills for email and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Management.
  • Strong reading comprehension, critical thinking, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to travel 10–15% per year for on-site reviews or evaluations.
