Description

  • Review and validate month-end close activities across Australian client accounts.
  • Examine reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify financial discrepancies and reporting issues and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Perform independent second-level reviews of client financial records to maintain strong controls.
  • Review client management reports and prepare commentary on performance, key movements, and areas requiring attention.
  • Review payment runs for accuracy and completeness before client authorisation.
  • Collaborate with the CFO, finance colleagues, and Sri Lanka-based development team to maintain reporting and control standards.
  • Define finance-process requirements and validation controls for automated workflows, and recommend improvements.
  • Provide financial oversight and continuity during the CFO's absence.

Requirements

  • Professionally qualified Chartered Accountant, such as CA Sri Lanka, CA ANZ, or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Hands-on experience using Xero for accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience reviewing financial records and reports across multiple client accounts or portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of month-end close processes, including reconciliations, journals, accruals, and balance sheet reviews.
  • Ability to work independently, apply sound financial judgement, and identify irregularities in financial information.
  • Excellent written English skills for preparing clear, professional client commentary.
  • Experience in an accounting practice, outsourced finance function, or professional services environment (preferred).
  • Familiarity with MYOB, Dext, ApprovalMax, or similar accounting platforms (preferred).
  • Experience with finance-process automation, software development collaboration, or Australian tax and regulatory compliance (preferred).
