Description

  • Architect and develop complex, high-load backend systems in Elixir.
  • Make architectural decisions that support scalable platforms and applications.
  • Lead technical discussions with product managers, engineers, and designers to translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote technical excellence.
  • Champion best practices in testing, documentation, maintainability, and engineering workflows.
  • Own production outcomes and balance technical debt against feature delivery.
  • Collaborate on systems integrating CRM, SEO, affiliate, and paid-marketing channels.

Requirements

  • Extensive production experience with Elixir, OTP, and Phoenix, or deep expertise in another functional language with willingness to learn Elixir quickly.
  • Proven experience with React and modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Strong track record designing and developing distributed systems at scale.
  • Experience integrating complex third-party services and handling failure scenarios.
  • Experience with CDN and edge caching; Cloudflare experience is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and Redis internals and query-performance optimization.
  • Understanding of accessibility and SEO, plus browser testing and debugging experience.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions.
  • Experience with MarTech platforms such as Braze or Iterable is preferred.
  • Ability to work remotely from the UK timezone within approximately two hours.
