Description

Architect and develop complex, high-load backend systems in Elixir.
Make architectural decisions that support scalable platforms and applications.
Lead technical discussions with product managers, engineers, and designers to translate requirements into technical specifications.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote technical excellence.
Champion best practices in testing, documentation, maintainability, and engineering workflows.
Own production outcomes and balance technical debt against feature delivery.
Collaborate on systems integrating CRM, SEO, affiliate, and paid-marketing channels.

Requirements

Extensive production experience with Elixir, OTP, and Phoenix, or deep expertise in another functional language with willingness to learn Elixir quickly.
Proven experience with React and modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Strong track record designing and developing distributed systems at scale.
Experience integrating complex third-party services and handling failure scenarios.
Experience with CDN and edge caching; Cloudflare experience is preferred.
Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and Redis internals and query-performance optimization.
Understanding of accessibility and SEO, plus browser testing and debugging experience.
Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions.
Experience with MarTech platforms such as Braze or Iterable is preferred.
Ability to work remotely from the UK timezone within approximately two hours.
