Description

  • Lead development teams by influencing technical direction and enabling consistent delivery.
  • Architect and apply hexagonal architecture across the platform to keep core domain logic clean and adaptable.
  • Guide the evolution of a monolithic system into a composable platform through incremental decomposition.
  • Define and govern service integration contracts, APIs, messaging patterns, and service boundaries.
  • Solve distributed systems challenges such as fault tolerance, eventual consistency, idempotency, and failure recovery.
  • Champion an AI-accelerated development lifecycle with architecture fitness tests, contract tests, and deployment safeguards.
  • Collaborate with Product and Design to translate business requirements into engineering solutions.
  • Make technology stack decisions and document architectural knowledge for the team.
  • Mentor developers in technical skills and delivery practices.
  • Support cross-team communication and alignment across Development, Design, and Product.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in software development, including at least 4 years in a senior or principal engineering role in a large IT organisation.
  • Expert-level proficiency in C#/.NET and .NET Core.
  • Proficiency in Python for backend services, scripting, data pipelines, or tooling.
  • Experience designing systems with hexagonal or clean architecture principles.
  • Experience evolving or decomposing monolithic systems in production environments.
  • Strong distributed systems experience, including service-to-service communication, fault tolerance, eventual consistency, and cross-service debugging.
  • Experience with message brokers and async communication patterns such as Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, or similar.
  • Knowledge of web front-end technologies including HTML, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, and React or a comparable framework.
  • Experience with spec-first development using OpenAPI/Swagger and testing practices including unit, regression, E2E, contract testing, and architecture fitness tests.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development workflows while maintaining architecture, code quality, and system coherence.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, plus containerisation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
