Description

  • Build and maintain backend infrastructure for the Databricks platform to operate at scale.
  • Design and implement foundational infrastructure platforms that enable seamless operation across multiple geographic regions and cloud providers.
  • Implement cloud-agnostic infrastructure abstractions to simplify management and operation of services.
  • Develop tools and processes that improve engineering efficiency, including linters, static analysis, IDEs, remote development environments, automated release pipelines, and test automation frameworks.
  • Optimize the Rust development experience and related developer workflows across the organization (current focus).
  • Work on domains such as core compute fabric resource management, service platforms, and machine learning infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive architectural decisions, ensure operational readiness, and deliver reliable production services.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Java, Scala, or Go.
  • Hands-on experience developing and operating large-scale, critical distributed backend systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership across project phases from inception and design to implementation and operations, with the ability to drive architectural decisions.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, influencing best practices, and fostering a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to drive alignment across teams and contribute to technical documentation and strategic decisions.
  • Experience with infrastructure systems, security, and handling sensitive data.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with or interest in improving Rust development workflows (preferred).
