Description

  • Build, debug, and extend internal and public Databricks Labs infrastructure components with a focus on scalable, reliable backend services and automation.
  • Implement and maintain backend services, APIs, and automation tools that integrate with the Databricks platform and related ecosystems.
  • Author technical documentation, design proposals, and internal guides to scale knowledge and best practices across the organization.
  • Apply engineering best practices, coding standards, and reusable patterns to ensure consistent and maintainable solution delivery.
  • Collaborate with Field Engineering, Product, and Platform Engineering to clarify requirements, propose technical approaches, and deliver projects.
  • Evaluate, adopt, and integrate new technologies relevant to Databricks Labs and the automation tooling ecosystem.
  • Own the design and implementation of small to medium-sized projects end to end, and partner on larger cross-team initiatives.
  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and incident response to improve reliability, observability, and developer experience.
  • Support the infrastructure used to maintain Databricks Labs and enable field engineering teams to contribute more effectively.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of production experience in backend or infrastructure development.
  • Experience delivering complex backend or infrastructure projects in iterative increments while balancing robustness and development speed.
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following: Terraform, Scala, Go, Apache Spark, Java, Python.
  • Experience with at least one compiled language is required.
  • Demonstrated fluency in modern AI and data technologies.
  • Proven experience integrating AI capabilities into production systems, such as embedding LLMs, recommendation models, or other ML services.
  • Experience applying reliability, observability, and security controls in backend applications.
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience producing clear technical documentation, design proposals, and knowledge-sharing materials across teams.
