Description

  • Influence the team roadmap and contribute to personal career objectives.
  • Deliver new features with the team and iterate based on results.
  • Drive projects from early idea through customer operation.
  • Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems with ownership of reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations and own the services being run.
  • Support teammates and take part in design discussions and code review of PRs and design documents.
  • Shepherd automated release rollouts and support production operations.
  • Contribute to open-source projects beyond the immediate team scope when needed.
  • Analyze production feedback to make performance and reliability improvements.
  • Learn the cloud product, customer use cases, and the codebase of a large distributed system.

Requirements

  • Remote candidates must be located in Canadian time zones.
  • Solid experience with at least one programming language.
  • Go is used on the team; familiarity with Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar is also relevant.
  • Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering through shipping.
  • Experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience in systems engineering.
  • Experience with on-call work and the DevOps model.
  • Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.
  • Familiarity with observability systems and knowing when to use metrics, logs, and traces.
  • Pragmatic problem-solving ability to break complex challenges into modular solutions and iterative MVPs.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and time management skills for a fully remote environment.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes (bonus).
  • Experience with queue systems such as the Kafka protocol (bonus).
  • Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles or hobby projects (bonus).
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, or a desire to learn (bonus).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (bonus).

  • Base compensation range in Canada of CAD 146,000 to CAD 175,000.
  • Equity is included as part of the compensation package.
  • Bonus eligibility is included if applicable.

  • 3 days of annual leave reserved for Grafana Shutdown Days.
  • In-person onboarding with fellow new Grafanistas.
