Description

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to shape and deliver upcoming features and fixes.
  • Work deeply in the Ruby on Rails monolith and related PostgreSQL systems.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues by tracing problems from symptom to root cause.
  • Review and provide feedback on GitHub pull requests.
  • Help customers diagnose and unblock product or pipeline issues.
  • Iterate on schema and data changes while keeping migrations and deploys safe and smooth.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and help steer the technical direction of the product.
  • Support product development by refining requirements and balancing practical code quality decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering.
  • Deep experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex Ruby on Rails applications in production.
  • Comfort working on performance at scale, including N+1 queries, indexing strategies, and slow-path diagnosis.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Datadog or Honeycomb.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience writing reliable tests with tools like RSpec.
  • Strong development practices, including clear commits and thoughtful pull requests.
  • Ability to solve hard problems with minimal supervision and move between high-level and detailed debugging.
  • Comfort working across multiple responsibilities, including customer support, technical discussions, database work, and product requirements.
  • Experience with the listed stack, including Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, React, Amazon ECS, RDS Performance Insights, Terraform, Redis, Golang, and Kafka.
