Description

  • Build foundational infrastructure platforms that support Databricks’ growth across multiple geographic regions and cloud providers.
  • Develop cloud-agnostic infrastructure abstractions that help engineers more efficiently manage and operate services.
  • Create tools and processes that improve engineering efficiency across the organization.
  • Improve developer experience through support for programming languages, linters, static analysis, IDEs, remote development environments, release pipelines, and test automation frameworks.
  • Focus on optimizing the Rust development experience across the organization.
  • Work on core compute fabric resource management, service platforms, and machine learning infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, and operate large-scale backend systems that are critical to Databricks’ platform.
  • Lead projects from inception and design through implementation and operations.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to deliver impact across infrastructure initiatives.
  • Produce clear technical documentation that supports alignment and decision-making.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Java, Scala, or Go.
  • Hands-on experience developing and operating large-scale, critical distributed backend systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership across all project phases, from inception and design to implementation and operations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation that drives alignment and decision-making.
  • Experience with infrastructure systems, security, and sensitive data.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Self-driven, passionate, and strongly focused on delivering impact through team collaboration.
