Description

  • Design, build, and operate foundational infrastructure platforms that support Databricks growth across multiple geographic regions and cloud providers.
  • Implement cloud-agnostic infrastructure abstractions to simplify management and operation of services.
  • Develop tools and processes to improve engineering efficiency, including programming language tooling, linters, static analysis, IDE integrations, remote development environments, release pipelines, and test automation.
  • Enhance and optimize the developer experience across the organization, with a current focus on improving Rust development workflows.
  • Work on core backend domains such as compute fabric resource management, service platforms, and infrastructure at large scale.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define feature specifications, design solutions, and drive projects from design through implementation and ongoing operations.
  • Contribute to building and operating backend systems for a SaaS platform and service-oriented architectures, including production troubleshooting and operational improvements.

Requirements

  • BS (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of production-level experience in one or more of: Python, Java, Scala, C++, or similar languages.
  • Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Java, Scala, or Go.
  • Experience developing large-scale distributed systems from scratch.
  • Experience working on SaaS platforms or service-oriented architectures.
  • Hands-on experience developing and operating backend systems in production.
  • Ability to contribute across all project phases—from initial design to implementation and ongoing operations—with guidance from senior team members.
  • Familiarity with multi-region cloud environments and cloud provider abstractions (preferred).
  • Experience or interest in Rust and optimizing language/tooling experiences (preferred).
