Description

  • Translate complex data science findings into clear, actionable narratives for the CEO, C-suite, and Board of Directors.
  • Serve as the company’s chief statistical voice and quality backstop for analytical rigor in high-stakes decisions.
  • Set communication standards, coach data science teams, and co-author executive-facing deliverables.
  • Produce strategic analyses on revenue, platform health, operational efficiency, and competitive positioning.
  • Partner with engineering VPs, product leaders, and executive staff to support data-driven decision-making across the company.
  • Represent Databricks externally as a data science thought leader through conferences, publications, and community engagement.
  • Define and evolve company-wide scientific methodologies, including experimentation frameworks, forecasting systems, and causal inference approaches.
  • Advance how Databricks applies statistical methods to business problems at the highest level of leadership.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in data science, statistics, or quantitative research across industry and/or academia.
  • Proven experience presenting statistical and data science concepts to C-suite and Board-level audiences with measurable impact.
  • Broad expertise in experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, optimization, and machine learning.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for non-technical executive audiences.
  • Track record of setting analytical standards, mentoring senior data scientists, and improving team output quality.
  • Experience at the intersection of statistics and large-scale technology or data platforms.
  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Academic research or teaching background in statistics or a quantitative field is preferred.
  • Experience at multiple tier-1 technology companies is preferred.
  • Published research or recognized thought leadership in applied statistics is preferred.
  • Experience building or leading a Chief Statistician or equivalent function is preferred.
  • Experience in infrastructure, platform, or systems-oriented data science is preferred.
