Description

  • Drive the roadmap and priorities for the team to improve Stripe’s data-driven capabilities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, analytics, operations, finance, marketing, and other functions.
  • Lead and manage team processes so the group can do its best work and operate effectively across Stripe.
  • Manage a high-performing team of data scientists and support their technical growth and career development.
  • Recruit and onboard data scientists in partnership with Stripe’s recruiting team.
  • Contribute to company-wide data science initiatives as part of the data science management team.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers on technical solutions and communication with senior leadership.

Requirements

  • PhD, MS, or BS in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of direct management experience leading data science or ML teams.
  • At least 10 years of overall data science experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing metrics and using data to guide business decisions.
  • Technical expertise to discuss architecture and strategic modeling decisions with staff and senior scientists.
  • Experience managing teams that have built and shipped machine learning systems and data products at scale.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to make rigorous decisions and tradeoffs.
  • Clear and persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
  • Experience fostering a healthy, inclusive, challenging, and supportive work environment.
  • Comfort working with geographically distributed teams, preferred.
  • Experience in time series forecasting, predictive modeling, or optimization, preferred.
  • Experience in data design and building scalable data architectures, preferred.
