Description

  • Configure and maintain vSphere clusters, including HA, DRS, resource pools, hosts, datastores, distributed switches, ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Monitor platform capacity, availability, performance, and compliance; recommend remediation, balancing, and scaling actions.
  • Administer and troubleshoot vSAN clusters, storage policies, fault domains, and performance or compliance issues.
  • Configure and support NSX networking, routing, gateways, and distributed security controls in coordination with network and cybersecurity teams.
  • Manage SRM protection groups and recovery plans, conduct failover/failback testing, and support quarterly COOP and continuity exercises.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, PowerCLI, APIs, and version-controlled IaC practices.
  • Provide advanced incident support, isolate platform faults, support root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain configuration backups, apply DISA STIGs and security baselines, and support RMF evidence and vulnerability remediation.
  • Support DISA-hosting migrations through discovery, dependency documentation, readiness assessments, cutovers, rollback planning, and stabilization.
  • Maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, recovery procedures, platform metrics, and modernization reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience where permitted.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in virtualization, systems engineering, data-center infrastructure, platform engineering, or infrastructure automation.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN, NSX, SRM, or comparable software-defined storage, network virtualization, and disaster-recovery technologies.
  • Experience developing or maintaining infrastructure automation and troubleshooting compute, storage, network, virtualization, and automation layers.
  • Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, backup and restoration, capacity management, and lifecycle practices.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Ability to support occasional on-site work, after-hours maintenance, disaster-recovery exercises, incident response, and travel.
  • Formal Terraform and Ansible training (preferred).
  • Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware Aria, PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, DISA STIGs, RMF, CI/CD, Git, or federal/DoD environments (preferred).
