Description

  • Own the end-to-end architecture for VA IT modernization programs, including reference architectures, integration patterns, platform decisions, and roadmaps.
  • Write proof-of-concept code and build hands-on prototypes to validate architectural decisions before solutions reach customers.
  • Represent Credence in technical discussions with VA stakeholders through RFI responses, oral presentations, and relationship-building meetings.
  • Contribute to VA capture efforts by authoring technical volumes, developing win themes, answering technical questions, and supporting customer discovery.
  • Partner with the VA practice lead on customer engagements and on positioning Credence’s AI-native capabilities for VA modernization.
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical mentorship to engineering teams supporting VA delivery work.
  • Review and validate delivery team solution designs against Credence architectural standards and VA compliance requirements.
  • Document architectural decisions, integration contracts, and technical standards so engineering teams can implement consistently.
  • Support DoD delivery programs from the shared solutions architecture pool while VA work scales.

Requirements

  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain a successful Federal Background Investigation.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on technical experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Direct, recent, hands-on experience using AI, machine learning, or generative AI in production systems.
  • Demonstrated AI/ML implementation work such as integrating LLM APIs, building RAG pipelines, designing MLOps infrastructure, fine-tuning models, or architecting agentic AI systems.
  • Prior experience working at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a VA employee or contractor is required.
  • Experience architecting at enterprise scale, such as $100M+ programs, multi-region cloud platforms, systems serving tens of thousands of users, or systems integrating 20+ downstream applications.
  • Comfort operating in task-order environments with short delivery timelines.
  • Deep experience with secure cloud architecture on AWS and/or Azure, including service model selection, networking, identity, and federal cybersecurity controls.
  • Deep experience with DevSecOps practices including CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and shift-left security.
  • Breadth in software engineering, including API design, microservices, containerization, application development, and Agile/SDLC.
  • Familiarity with federal reference architectures and security controls such as FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and VA EHRM/OIT standards.
  • Proven ability to set architectural direction and mentor engineers through hands-on problem-solving.
  • Healthcare informatics experience, especially in VA, VHA, or DoD healthcare, is preferred.
  • DoD program experience in delivery or capture is preferred.
  • Experience with application portfolio inventories, application interdependency mapping, and modernization assessments is preferred.
  • Experience with data analytics, SaaS, low-code/no-code platforms, or RPA is preferred.
  • Network engineering depth is preferred.
  • Understanding of Agile, service-oriented architecture, DevOps, automated testing and deployment, microservices, and containerization.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and de-risking large, complex solutions, preferably in cloud or container environments.
  • Technical certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect are valued but not required.
