Description

Create charts, graphs, interactives, and other visual designs for digital products aligned with UX strategy and user needs.
Partner with the content team to understand upcoming stories and develop design approaches that strengthen coverage.
Pitch visual concepts that reflect Consumer Reports’ brand voice and tone.
Collaborate with UX researchers to incorporate insights from interviews, surveys, and usability testing into design decisions.
Design data visualizations and information graphics with high-fidelity visuals, typography, color, iconography, and layout.
Prototype and develop interactive experiences using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Implement interactive graphics in the content management system.
Optimize visual and interactive presentations across desktop, mobile, and other platforms.
Update and refresh graphics as needed.
Stay informed about competitors and industry trends.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in design, computer science, or a related discipline.
At least 7 years of professional design experience for an information-driven digital publication.
Ability to translate accessible designs into code that performs well on desktop and mobile environments.
Portfolio demonstrating strong visual and graphic design skills, including data visualization and information graphics.
Basic data analysis skills to interpret raw data, identify trends, and distill complex information into key insights.
Strong knowledge of design fundamentals and storytelling techniques, including color theory, typography, composition, and layout.
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teammates.
Adaptability to feedback and changing project needs while maintaining quality and brand consistency.
Experience designing for a consumer-focused organization (preferred).
Portfolio and resume required for consideration.
