Description

  • Follow up on assigned accounts daily to reduce accounts receivable.
  • Validate denied claims and determine appropriate resolutions, including authorization, retroauthorization, and precertification.
  • Submit appeal letters and payer-required documentation through WAYSTAR for unpaid and underpaid claims.
  • Prioritize collection activities to improve efficiency and reimbursement outcomes.
  • Document account-resolution actions in Avatar and WAYSTAR using standardized notes.
  • Meet departmental productivity requirements.
  • Communicate identified opportunities to leadership using the SBAR format.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives focused on accounts-receivable reduction.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues and assist with billing correspondence and claim disposition.
  • Serve as a functional resource while exercising discretion and sound judgment in payer, patient, and provider communications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of insurance claims follow-up experience.
  • At least 2 years of claim denial management experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a physician or facility business office.
  • At least 1 year of experience working remotely.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance billing, follow-up, and appeals, with strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related field (preferred).
  • Five years of physician or facility billing/auditing experience in a behavioral health environment (preferred).
  • Must meet the company’s mandatory vaccination policy or qualify for an approved exemption.
  • Must have a flu shot or an approved exemption requiring masking during the company’s designated flu season.
