Description

  • Plan and write rigorous ELA curriculum content aligned to CommonLit’s instructional standards and design principles.
  • Curate texts and resources for rigor, relevance, and instructional value.
  • Revise and edit existing units, lessons, and content components.
  • Peer review curriculum materials for standards alignment and quality.
  • Contribute to curriculum, supplemental, library, and cross-functional content projects.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Incorporate feedback, iterate on drafts, and continuously improve content quality.
  • Collaborate with Academic teams and other departments, including Product, to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly to support the workflow of teammates and stakeholders.
  • Work across print and digital formats to develop learning content.

Requirements

  • 5+ completed years of teaching experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, history, or another humanities field.
  • Lived experience or work experience in communities of color.
  • Strong reading, writing, editing, and analytical skills with close attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of college- and career-readiness ELA standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in English language arts instruction.
  • Deep understanding of the challenges facing teachers and students.
  • Humility and a growth mindset, including openness to critical feedback.
  • Curriculum writing experience in English language arts is preferred.
  • Experience rolling out curriculum and technology across a school or district is preferred.
  • Ability to work successfully on collaborative, cross-functional teams is preferred.
  • Familiarity with current research and trends in ELA instruction is preferred.
  • Familiarity with contemporary, diverse literature is preferred.
  • Must be US-based.
  • Must be available to work 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Standard Time.

  • Salary of $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience.
