Description

  • Strategically expand Common App’s network of constituents and partners.
  • Grow member institutions, state partnerships, and the pipeline of students engaging with Common App.
  • Identify and cultivate new markets such as community colleges, regional state institutions, and state systems.
  • Establish student reach partnerships with school districts and national-scope community-based organizations.
  • Broaden Common App’s reach to community college students, transfer students, and independent learners.
  • Advance growth strategies for target markets and audiences in partnership with Marketing, Strategy & Business Development, Product Strategy, and Constituent Engagement teams.
  • Translate the organization’s long-term growth vision into actionable strategic plans and drive execution.
  • Work to ensure the network derives strong value from Common App.
  • Represent the organization effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Navigate the political, regulatory, and budgetary complexities of state higher education systems and institutional consortia.

Requirements

  • Must live in the United States.
  • Willingness to travel to attend two annual Common App retreats.
  • 12+ years of experience in business growth, partnership design and execution, and/or sales in the postsecondary education ecosystem.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Higher Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional ability to turn ambitious vision into concrete, measurable, long-term strategic plans and execute them successfully.
  • Deep understanding of the U.S. higher education landscape, including enrollment trends, institutional sectors, access and equity challenges, and the transfer student ecosystem.
  • Expert knowledge of strategic growth models, market penetration, and complex business development in a mission-driven nonprofit focused on educational access.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with state or large education organizations’ data systems, education policy trends, go-to-market strategy in higher education or edtech, complex partnerships with state agencies and large districts, and/or leading growth into new markets is preferred.
