Description

  • Translate product goals into iterative plans, prototypes, and production features across the stack, with a backend focus.
  • Own the technical vision, architecture, and expansion of Coalition Control’s backend systems.
  • Simplify complex microservice architectures and improve system maintainability.
  • Set standards for code quality, reviews, testing, reliability, and security.
  • Lead a team of four engineers within the Security Engineering organization.
  • Mentor engineers, guide architectural decisions, and provide efficient code reviews.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering, and other departments on technical decisions and execution.
  • Participate in the Security Engineering on-call rotation approximately one week every eight weeks.

Requirements

  • Experience designing and building distributed, event-driven systems and cloud services in production.
  • Experience with AWS messaging tools such as SQS or Kafka is preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in architecture, engineering standards, mentorship, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Strong proficiency in a modern backend language and framework; Python/FastAPI experience is preferred.
  • Comfort with TypeScript and Node.js; React.js experience is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining APIs and integrating third-party APIs or platforms.
  • Track record of simplifying complex existing systems for easier evolution.
  • Solid understanding of security concepts and practices; cybersecurity experience is preferred.
  • Clear communication, practical problem-solving skills, and an outcome-oriented approach.
