Description

  • Lead the design and delivery of AI agents, reusable skills, and automation workflows.
  • Translate ambiguous business processes and edge cases into maintainable software.
  • Design integrations between agents and systems of record using MCP and comparable frameworks.
  • Define architecture, interfaces, data contracts, and operating standards for production AI systems.
  • Establish evaluation strategies, quality baselines, and release criteria for AI systems.
  • Implement permissions, observability, auditability, human review, failure containment, and rollback controls.
  • Partner with data engineering and business stakeholders to ensure trustworthy data and sustainable ownership.
  • Drive reusable technical patterns and mentor engineers through design reviews and implementation guidance.
  • Document systems, technical decisions, and operating practices.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including recent experience shipping LLM-backed applications.
  • Experience taking AI agents or multi-step automation workflows from prototype to reliable production operation.
  • Strong Python skills and practical SQL expertise with production data models.
  • Deep experience with prompting, tool use, agentic loops, structured outputs, error handling, and deployment.
  • Experience integrating systems with business-critical systems of record.
  • Strong judgment regarding AI evaluation, reliability, safety controls, and responsible deployment.
  • Production engineering experience with Git, CI/CD, containers, monitoring, testing, permissions, and rollback.
  • Ability to lead technical work in ambiguous environments and influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with MCP servers, agent platforms, or reusable tool frameworks (preferred).
  • Experience building evaluation harnesses, test datasets, and monitoring for LLM systems (preferred).
  • Experience in internal tools, solutions engineering, professional services, startups, or founding teams (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Linear, Jira, Zendesk, Salesforce, or Snowflake (preferred).
  • Experience in insurance, fintech, cybersecurity, or regulated environments (preferred).

  • Base salary of $149,600–$199,600 in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario; $134,600–$184,600 elsewhere in Canada.
