Description

  • Construct backend systems, write code, and support deployments.
  • Work with the team lead and stakeholders to estimate and prioritize work.
  • Collaborate with peers to iterate on solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Keep the project lead and producer updated on revised estimates and delivery timelines.
  • Promote high standards through testing, CI/CD, and documentation practices.
  • Support team members in their day-to-day work.
  • Maintain, extend, and improve existing codebases.
  • Develop new features and systems for game-related backend services.
  • Contribute to an internal tool used across MPG.
  • Collaborate on defining solutions and implementing features to a high standard.

Requirements

  • Experience in game development and at least two commercial game titles involving server backends for AAA games, free-to-play mobile games, casino apps, or similar.
  • Experience releasing at least two backend services with a large number of concurrent users.
  • Production experience with at least one of Java, Golang, C#, C++, or Kotlin.
  • Experience with Python, Node.js, and React is desirable.
  • Experience with cloud platforms including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
  • AWS Certification at Associate level or above is advantageous.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
  • Ability to create supporting documentation, designs, and comments.
  • Ability to discuss technical and production matters clearly.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work autonomously.
  • Experience building distributed applications and familiarity with microservices and service-oriented architectures (SOA).
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines to validate and test code.
  • Awareness of security and cheating implications of technology choices.
  • Experience using Gen AI for code generation.
  • Database experience with both SQL and NoSQL is beneficial.
  • Understanding of how backend services integrate with the game; Unreal or Unity experience is useful but not required.
  • Experience with high-scale distributed applications serving hundreds of thousands of concurrent users with high uptime and performance.
  • Understanding of how to use LLMs to process and query structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience with Git, Perforce, or other source control software.
  • Ability to adapt to new tools, languages, and concepts as required by the project.
  • Clear communication skills and willingness to accept constructive critique.
