Description

  • Design and build APIs and services in a NestJS/TypeScript backend, including domain modeling, schema design, and service architecture.
  • Build and iterate on user-facing features in a React/TypeScript frontend, translating wireframes and product requirements into production UI.
  • Own features end-to-end from problem definition with Product through implementation and production observability.
  • Implement comprehensive automated testing across frontend, backend, and integration layers to ensure high-quality and maintainable software.
  • Work within AWS infrastructure and make informed decisions about service boundaries and cloud-native patterns.
  • Proactively identify, debug, and resolve production issues.
  • Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and architectural guidance.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Architects, and engineers across teams to ship features.
  • Contribute to shaping technical direction, not just writing code.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building web-based, multi-tenant, commercial applications.
  • Strong engineering skills across the full stack in TypeScript.
  • Experience building and operating production-grade services and shipping production-grade user interfaces.
  • Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations.
  • Proven ability to build effective UIs in a modern React/TypeScript codebase.
  • Comfort with component architecture, state management, and working with design systems.
  • AWS experience building and deploying cloud-native applications.
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as CDK, Cognito, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, and S3 is a plus.
  • Ability to navigate and debug across multiple layers of the stack, including UI, services, databases, and ETL pipelines.
  • Experience working in a monorepo or multi-service architecture and understanding the tradeoffs.
  • Experience shipping SaaS products and operating software in production.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and making progress without perfect requirements.
  • Healthcare domain experience or familiarity with HIPAA, SOC, or HITRUST compliance requirements is preferred.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS CDK, Tofu, or Terraform is preferred.
  • Experience using AI tools like Claude to accelerate development or integrate LLM capabilities is preferred.
  • Experience in a hypergrowth startup environment is preferred.
