Description

  • Own the architecture and hardest technical work on engineering-quality initiatives, including workflow testing, mutation testing, end-to-end testing, QA agents, and the public API.
  • Solve cross-cutting technical problems across squads with a focus on technical correctness and leverage rather than team ownership.
  • Set technical direction for shared systems, make architecture-of-record decisions, and document trade-offs.
  • Raise the technical bar through design reviews, architecture guidance, and mentorship of senior engineers.
  • Identify systemic technical risks early and drive fixes before they become incidents.
  • Partner directly with the SVP of Engineering on technical strategy and platform direction.
  • Set the standard for responsible AI use in development and validate AI-generated output.
  • Serve as a hands-on technical force multiplier without direct reports or personnel management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years building production software, with experience operating at staff or principal level.
  • Demonstrated ownership of hard, cross-cutting technical problems and delivery of durable solutions.
  • Deep expertise in testing strategy and engineering-quality infrastructure, including test automation, end-to-end testing, mutation testing, and CI/CD rigor.
  • Strong architecture and API design experience with the ability to make and defend consequential technical trade-offs.
  • A track record of improving the engineers around you through mentorship, guidance, or technical leadership.
  • Ability to influence technical direction without authority or a reporting line.
  • SaaS or platform experience is required or strongly preferred.
  • Experience in payments, IoT, or vertical SaaS is a plus.
