Description

  • Operate a credit audit program focused on portfolio and administrative risk through regular testing.
  • Develop evaluation strategies for credit underwriting, portfolio management, and documentation practices.
  • Compile, interpret, and report performance metrics that monitor portfolio health.
  • Review loan quality, including underwriting standards, policy adherence, collateral adequacy, and borrower performance trends.
  • Assess borrower financial stability, cash flow capacity, and collateral quality through credit file reviews.
  • Evaluate loan portfolios and maintain appropriate risk grades with timely updates when needed.
  • Work with senior management to develop strategies for problem loans and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present management reports for Board Committee Directors and executive leadership.
  • Provide credible challenge and recommendations based on audit conclusions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to address concerns and improve processes or systems.
  • Maintain independence in loan production and credit review activities.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes, industry best practices, and economic trends affecting credit risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree and professional certifications such as CPA or CFA preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in financial audit, credit risk management, loan review, or a similar commercial financing role.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit production processes, including underwriting, portfolio management, and credit-box administration.
  • Working knowledge of Regulatory Interagency Guidance on Credit Risk Review Systems.
  • Experience conducting and managing credit audits, loan review functions, or similar banking oversight.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present to senior leadership and Board members.
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports with clear conclusions and well-documented critical issues.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
