Description

  • Lead the company’s artificial intelligence and machine learning efforts.
  • Design, develop, train, and productize deep learning models for image processing.
  • Research and develop models that integrate paired imaging and transcriptomic data from the same cells.
  • Build infrastructure to track model learning and performance.
  • Develop and implement a multi-year AI/ML strategy for core platform operations and data interpretation.
  • Identify new opportunities to apply AI/ML through discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Source, hire, and mentor junior team members.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Software Engineering, Product Development, and other software teams to integrate AI/ML into the broader ecosystem.
  • Stay current with the rapidly changing AI/ML landscape to identify new opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and vision while remaining hands-on in implementation.

Requirements

  • PhD in engineering, computer science, computational biology, or related field with 15 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 18 years of experience; or Bachelor’s degree with 20 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience, including hiring and mentoring junior team members.
  • Deep learning-based image analysis expertise is required.
  • Experience with object detection, instance segmentation, and feature extraction models.
  • Demonstrated experience training and tuning deep learning models.
  • Excellent programming skills with familiarity with frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • PhD strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with biological imaging data such as live cell microscopy or histopathology.
  • Experience working with foundation models for single-cell transcriptomics.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of working time, including occasional overnight or weekend travel.
  • Ability to spend approximately 90% of the workday in front of a computer screen and/or typing.
