Description

  • Define and drive the long-term architecture of the customer-facing platform from a .NET monolith to a modular, service-based system.
  • Decompose core product functionality into services for distribution, royalties, analytics, catalog management, and account management.
  • Own back end data modeling, ORM patterns, schema design, and data access conventions.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to create data models and pipelines that feed Snowflake for analytics and reporting.
  • Write production code as a hands-on principal individual contributor.
  • Help complete the migration from on-premises infrastructure to Azure.
  • Establish and uphold engineering standards for CI/CD, automated testing, observability, performance, and security.
  • Plan and deliver incremental modernization alongside ongoing product feature development.
  • Mentor engineers by example and raise back end craftsmanship across the team.
  • Collaborate with front end, SDET, product, design, infrastructure, internal tools, and data engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive back end software engineering experience, with substantial technical leadership experience at Principal, Staff, or equivalent level.
  • Proven experience decomposing a monolithic application into a service-based architecture in production without disrupting the product.
  • Deep, current expertise in .NET (C#) and SQL Server, including at scale in containerized environments on a major cloud.
  • Azure experience preferred; AWS or GCP experience is also relevant.
  • Working fluency in at least one of Go, Node.js, or Python.
  • Ability to select and operate different data stores based on workload, including relational, key-value, document, search, or columnar stores.
  • Strong experience with ORMs such as Entity Framework or Dapper, plus schema design, data modeling, and migrations.
  • Hands-on experience designing and evolving API contracts using REST, GraphQL, or gRPC, including versioning and contract testing.
  • Strong grasp of CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and continuous delivery practices.
  • Experience partnering with data engineering on analytical pipelines, ideally with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Music, media, or entertainment industry experience is welcome but not required.
  • Remote work within the United States and availability to work Pacific Time hours.
