Description

  • Develop and scale context services for Carvana's conversational AI platform, Sebastian.
  • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to architect and design new APIs and MCPs.
  • Drive iterative improvements to Sebastian to enhance customer experience.
  • Work with foundational models and LLM frameworks from providers such as OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle from design and development through testing and production operations.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers and product managers.
  • Proactively evolve software engineering practices to take advantage of frontier AI capabilities.
  • Support ML pipelines and AI-driven services that improve the company's communications platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field from an accredited undergraduate institution.
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, Redis, and major cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience building, debugging, and troubleshooting web applications, API integrations, and infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical ability to translate complex, abstract problems into logical and actionable software solutions.
  • Solid fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems.
  • Experience using generative AI models from providers like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with product managers and other developers.
  • Production-quality coding standards and patterns.
  • Preferred: experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Preferred: experience with Claude or other developer AI assistants.
  • Preferred: experience with CosmosDB or other NoSQL databases.
  • Preferred: experience with message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Preferred: experience writing GraphQL-interfaced services.
  • Preferred: experience with authentication and authorization.
  • Preferred: familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and the PKCE authentication flow.
  • Preferred: experience integrating native device functionality into browser applications.
  • Preferred: comfort setting up and modifying build and release pipelines for CI/CD.
  • Preferred: proficiency with development tools from the Linux command line.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Hiring is contingent on passing a complete background check.
