Description

  • Set the multi-year technical strategy for the modeling platform in partnership with senior EPD leadership.
  • Architect distributed computation systems that scale horizontally with predictable SLAs.
  • Evolve the platform from single-node execution to partitioned, parallel processing at enterprise scale.
  • Own high-stakes technical decisions that have organization-wide impact in ambiguous or contested areas.
  • Drive operational excellence for mission-critical financial workloads, including reliability, observability, graceful degradation, cost efficiency, and incident response.
  • Design platform APIs and SDKs used by multiple product teams to ensure consistent behavior and rapid feature adoption.
  • Elevate engineering capabilities through design leadership, code review standards, architectural mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
  • Coach engineers and help them grow toward senior and staff-level impact.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical issues and uptime.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with progression into staff-level technical leadership.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems and data-intensive architectures at scale.
  • Demonstrated track record of operational excellence for mission-critical production systems.
  • Proven ability to elevate teams through mentorship, design leadership, and raising the technical bar.
  • Ability to set technical strategy across teams and make high-stakes decisions under ambiguity.
  • Experience with Go and/or Python for backend systems (bonus).
  • Familiarity with columnar data formats such as Apache Arrow or Parquet and OLAP storage engines such as ClickHouse or DuckDB (bonus).
  • Experience evolving monolithic systems into distributed architectures, including partitioning, coordination, and fault tolerance (bonus).
  • Background in computation engines, formula evaluation systems, spreadsheet engines, or financial modeling platforms (bonus).
  • Experience designing platform SDKs or APIs consumed by multiple product teams, or building internal platforms/developer experience infrastructure (bonus).
