Description

  • Market and promote Community Development Lending (CDL) products to real estate and small business prospects, community lenders, community partners, and other financial institutions across the DC Metro, NYC Metro, and Detroit Metro areas.
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with partners, borrowers, prospects, and other community stakeholders within core sectors (affordable housing, education, health care, and food systems).
  • Manage CDL loan pipelines for the Eastern Region and respond to all regional loan inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Pre-screen, compile, structure, and analyze loan applications for eligibility, creditworthiness, and repayment ability using established credit policy and underwriting guidelines.
  • Perform preliminary loan structuring, propose terms, prepare Letters of Interest or Term Sheets, negotiate terms with prospective borrowers, and secure preliminary approval to proceed to underwriting.
  • Manage smooth transition of loan prospects to Loan Officers and Underwriters and collaborate with internal teams to resolve relationship, structuring, and credit challenges.
  • Represent Momentus/Capital Impact Partners at conferences, webinars, groundbreakings, and industry functions; present to groups and engage stakeholders to deepen market presence.
  • Collect and analyze market data and trends, assist with product and service development and implementation, support cross-team information sharing, and help produce communications, reporting, and fundraising materials as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in business/public administration, finance, real estate, or related field preferred (education considered holistically with work experience).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of lending experience, with mission-driven work considered a plus.
  • Experience in community development or real estate finance, including credit analysis, deal structuring, underwriting, and due diligence.
  • Knowledge in at least one core sector (affordable housing, education, health care, or healthy food) is required; affordable housing knowledge preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local community development programs that finance affordable housing, education, healthcare, and/or grocery or real estate projects.
  • Experience with CDFIs and/or New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs) is a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic financial statement analysis and determine creditworthiness based on cash flow and credit history.
  • Strong sales and communication skills, including public speaking, and demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and stakeholders to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Salesforce; ability to learn and adapt to changing IT environments; ability to travel up to 30%.

Benefits

  • Salary range $98,780–$145,000 depending on location, with potential annual discretionary incentive.
  • Location-based pay structures: Structure A $98,780–$130,000 (most locations); Structure B $109,756–$135,000 (DC/MD/VA non-Bay Area CA markets, and Massachusetts); Structure C $120,403–$145,000 (New York, New Jersey, and the Bay Area).
  • Eligible to work remotely or hybrid out of a company office if preferred.
  • All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the Company will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
