Description

  • Lead day-to-day execution of complex non-incentive clean transportation projects, including scopes, schedules, budgets, risks, and dependencies.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop 3-4 project managers and technical staff.
  • Translate portfolio strategy into actionable project plans, workplans, and roadmaps with the Senior Director.
  • Coordinate across policy, technical, data, member engagement, demonstration, and business development teams to ensure alignment and delivery.
  • Track milestones, KPIs, and outcomes, and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Support utility and grid-focused initiatives, corridor-planning efforts, and infrastructure technical offerings.
  • Represent CALSTART in meetings with members, utilities, and external partners.
  • Contribute to business development through proposal development, project scoping, partnership coordination, and new opportunity generation.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of progressive professional experience in clean transportation, energy, utilities, infrastructure development, or a closely related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, environmental science, public policy, energy, transportation, or a related discipline.
  • PMP certification preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex projects or programs with multiple stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Direct experience with non-incentive zero-emission transportation initiatives, including infrastructure planning, utility engagement, grid-related projects, corridor development, or hydrogen infrastructure.
  • Formal people-management or supervisory experience, including coaching, performance management, and staff development.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with technical, policy, market development, and member-facing teams.
  • Strong project and program management skills, including managing scopes, schedules, budgets, risks, and dependencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholder communication.
  • Proven stakeholder management and relationship-building skills with utilities, partners, and members.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies, including tools such as Monday.com, Mavenlink, or ADP.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, approximately 10-20%, and adjust work hours for cross-time-zone collaboration.
  • Master’s degree in a related field is desired.
  • Experience with utility planning processes, regulatory proceedings, grid modernization, proposal development, or business development is desired.
