Description

  • Collaborate within the Commerce Squad to build and iterate on commerce features that create measurable business impact.
  • Contribute to platform scaling efforts while improving reliability and performance in user-critical flows.
  • Partner with Product and Design to refine requirements, define MVPs, and instrument experiments.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies to plan work and support predictable delivery.
  • Work across squads to improve engineering practices, shared monorepo tooling, and service boundaries.
  • Review implementation plans and pull requests with a focus on simplicity, maintainability, and incremental delivery.
  • Build new features while helping scale the platform and architecture as the monolith is decomposed into services.
  • Develop tooling and automation to improve the delivery process.
  • Use AI assistants thoughtfully to scaffold code, generate tests, draft documentation, analyze logs, and accelerate experiments.
  • Contribute to a high-trust, professional-casual engineering culture grounded in respect and ownership.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience in a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
  • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for modern front-end web development.
  • Professional backend engineering experience with Node.js, including scalable, observable, reliable, and secure services and APIs.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling for transactional systems.
  • Experience designing and consuming GraphQL APIs in production.
  • Background in mixed-stack environments, such as Node.js services interfacing with a Ruby on Rails monolithic API.
  • Hands-on experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), microservices, and monolith-to-services modernization or large-scale refactoring.
  • Proven ability to own features end to end, including discovery, design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Commitment to writing clean, reliable, and maintainable code with an emphasis on readability, simplicity, and performance.
  • Adaptability to new technologies, evolving architectural patterns, and changing priorities.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation for critical production issues outside regular working hours.
  • Comfort using AI tools in engineering workflows with responsible judgment, prompt crafting, and data handling practices.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the United States, as Calendly does not offer immigration sponsorship.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Rails, Redis, or other related technologies is expected to be learned on the job and is a plus in context of the role.
