Description

  • Own the end-to-end developer experience across CI, build tooling, codebase health, deployment paths, and AI-assisted development.
  • Lead initiatives to measure and double R&D output per engineer using meaningful, reliable productivity signals.
  • Design, implement, and ship hands-on improvements across multiple languages, services, and unfamiliar codebases.
  • Evaluate, deploy, measure, and improve agentic coding tools across the engineering organization.
  • Build relationships and credibility across engineering teams, secure buy-in, and remove roadblocks for teams outside your direct ownership.
  • Identify and eliminate sources of friction that slow software delivery.
  • Instrument and report on developer productivity and engineering workflow improvements.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering background with significant production experience and ongoing hands-on coding.
  • Experience in platform engineering or a track record of leading AI and developer tooling initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success making engineering teams measurably faster, with clear insight into what worked and why.
  • Experience working at meaningful organizational or technical scale.
  • Fluency with agentic coding tools and sound judgment about when to trust, correct, or override them.
  • Ability to influence across the organization without direct management responsibility.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity, imperfect measurements, experimentation, and sensible risk-taking.
  • Deep CI/CD experience, especially improving slow or complex pipelines (preferred).
  • Experience in a high-performance engineering environment, across multiple languages and stacks, or instrumenting developer productivity (preferred).
  • Based in Australia, New Zealand, or the U.S. West Coast; role is fully remote.
