Description

  • Lead development of player-facing gameplay mechanics such as traversal, combat, interaction, and abilities in C++ and Blueprints.
  • Define modular, scalable gameplay frameworks that support content creators, networked play, and multiple PC and console SKUs.
  • Collaborate with design, animation, audio, and production to ensure features are robust, performant, and aligned with creative goals.
  • Profile, analyze, and optimize gameplay systems to meet performance and memory targets across platforms.
  • Provide technical mentorship, conduct code reviews, and use pair programming to raise code quality and team capability.
  • Prototype and evaluate new gameplay paradigms and explore emerging Unreal Engine 5 technologies such as GAS, MassEntity, and Chaos.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives and help shape engineering practices within the studio.
  • Bridge design vision with technical execution to solve cross-disciplinary gameplay challenges.
  • Own significant gameplay features from concept through release on shipped titles.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional C++ experience in Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
  • BSc in Computer Science or a college diploma in software engineering, game programming, or a closely related field.
  • Experience shipping multiple titles, including at least one where you owned significant gameplay features from concept to release.
  • Strong experience with performance profiling, memory budgeting, and debugging tools.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and translate design vision into technical implementation.
  • Critical thinking about player experience, systemic design, and clean abstraction.
  • Clear communication skills and a leadership-by-example approach to engineering culture.
  • Bonus: experience leading gameplay teams or mentoring mid/junior engineers.
  • Bonus: familiarity with animation programming, AI behavior systems, or multiplayer gameplay logic.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and reside within Canada.
