Description

  • Collaborate with system design, level design, art, engineering, and production to support the creative vision and resolve narrative or implementation inconsistencies.
  • Author and implement quests end to end, including quest logic, objectives, branching states, conditions, and in-game scripting.
  • Write and integrate narrative content such as dialogue, character backgrounds, world lore, and mission context into playable content.
  • Work with level designers to embed narrative into spaces and encounters while maintaining pacing and story consistency.
  • Build and maintain quest state machines, variables, and conditions so quests respond correctly to player choice and systemic interactions.
  • Test, debug, and iterate on quest content to fix logic errors, progression blockers, and edge cases.
  • Respond to feedback and revise content to improve clarity, flow, gameplay alignment, and player experience.
  • Manage quest work within production schedules and constraints, communicating risks and dependencies as needed.
  • Maintain an understanding of core gameplay systems and adjust narrative implementation to avoid conflicts and support player-driven outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in game development with a strong focus on quest, campaign, or narrative content design.
  • Experience shipping at least one content-heavy title, ideally in the RPG space.
  • Comfort working independently on assigned content and managing tasks in a dynamic production environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with designers, artists, engineers, and audio partners.
  • Familiarity with scripting, logic-driven tools, and state-based systems.
  • Confidence building, debugging, and maintaining quest logic, conditions, and branching outcomes directly in-game.
  • Strong interest in hands-on narrative implementation within complex RPG systems (preferred).
  • Passion for science fiction storytelling and player-driven exploration (preferred).
  • Appreciation for systems-driven RPGs and emergent, non-linear gameplay (preferred).
  • Interest in cinematic storytelling, including pacing, performance, audio integration, and environmental storytelling (preferred).

Benefits

  • Remote work within Canada, in-studio, or hybrid work arrangements.
  • Four-day work week as a permanent option.
  • Salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 per year.
