Description

  • Lead and develop a team of Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Domain Enablement Engineers, and Data Governance specialists.
  • Establish operating rhythms for planning, prioritization, capacity management, roadmap tracking, dependency management, and risk escalation.
  • Translate enterprise data strategy and business priorities into sequenced delivery plans for platform onboarding, source integration, data products, semantic enablement, and governance.
  • Partner with business and domain stakeholders to clarify outcomes, assess readiness, prioritize use cases, and set delivery expectations.
  • Coordinate delivery across data, analytics, enablement, governance, platform, architecture, security, and infrastructure teams.
  • Ensure outputs meet standards for production readiness, data quality, documentation, ownership, lineage, security, access control, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Review technical approaches, delivery risks, and tradeoffs while preventing duplication, ungoverned assets, and unsustainable operational burdens.
  • Hire, coach, develop, and retain a high-performing data team, including establishing role clarity and growth expectations.
  • Monitor delivery health through measures such as roadmap progress, throughput, domain onboarding time, adoption, quality, operational stability, and dependencies.
  • Communicate progress, risks, investment needs, and tradeoffs to business and technology leadership while continuously improving the delivery model.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, BI/data platforms, data architecture, or related technical data disciplines.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and developing technical teams responsible for data, analytics, data products, or data-platform delivery.
  • Demonstrated success leading delivery across multiple business domains and balancing competing stakeholder priorities.
  • Strong understanding of lakehouse architecture, data pipelines, Bronze/Silver/Gold patterns, dimensional modeling, semantic layers, data quality, metadata, lineage, and governed access.
  • Ability to evaluate and challenge technical delivery approaches without being the primary hands-on implementer.
  • Experience translating business priorities into outcome-oriented roadmaps, scoped delivery plans, and realistic sequencing decisions.
  • Experience partnering with business, engineering, cloud/infrastructure, security, governance, and architecture teams.
  • Strong judgment in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and excellent communication, organizational leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Hands-on Databricks experience, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, or Workflows (preferred).
  • Experience scaling enterprise data functions, leading complex-domain delivery, managing migrations or ERP transformations, working in regulated or security-sensitive industries, or leading distributed teams (preferred).
