Description

  • Specialize in the technical development of the authentication and authorization platform.
  • Define authorization for AI-powered agentic workflows and non-human actors.
  • Evolve the identity layer in Auth0 to improve authentication, token issuance, and identity federation.
  • Maintain and mature the Relationship-Based Access Control (ReBAC) OpenFGA model across infrastructure.
  • Drive large-scale technical projects that span multiple teams and systems.
  • Establish and champion best practices and quality standards with the team.
  • Mentor teammates and model strong collaboration in pull requests, demos, and day-to-day working relationships.
  • Own team deliverables, decisions, quality, process, and technical direction.
  • Drive projects from ideation through production.
  • Identify risks and blockers early during planning, architecture discussions, and RFCs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional software experience.
  • Significant depth in identity, authentication, or authorization systems.
  • Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, including token flows, JWKS validation, scopes, and audience restrictions.
  • Hands-on experience with ReBAC systems such as OpenFGA, Zanzibar, or SpiceDB.
  • Experience modeling authorization schemas, writing and testing tuple-based policies, and reasoning about permission evaluation performance.
  • Experience with Auth0 or comparable identity providers such as Okta, Azure AD, or Keycloak.
  • Strong proficiency in backend languages such as Java, Ruby, or Python.
  • Experience with web frameworks such as Spring Boot, Rails, or Django.
  • Fluency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex as part of the development workflow.
  • Thoughtful collaboration and decision-making approach that prioritizes equity, access, and continuous learning.
