Description

  • Take ambiguous business problems from design through build and production across team boundaries with end-to-end ownership.
  • Set technical direction that spans multiple pods, services, and teams.
  • Make architectural decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
  • Work directly with product, design, and data as a peer collaborator on feature and system decisions.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate engineering work and establish strong standards for AI-assisted development.
  • Mentor engineers through code review, design feedback, and direct guidance on problem-solving approaches.
  • Improve team and org processes when current ways of working have gaps.
  • Drive work across revenue, growth, consumer product, registry, platform, and infrastructure areas as needed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience building and shipping production systems at scale.
  • Experience owning outcomes across teams, not only within a single team or pod.
  • Prior experience setting the standard for how AI is used in engineering work.
  • Strong judgment for when to trust AI output and when to discard it.
  • Deep backend fundamentals and broad system-design experience.
  • Experience shipping production Rails applications, or experience with Python/Django or Node.js with ability to ramp up quickly on Rails.
  • Ability to make hard decisions under ambiguity and document reasoning clearly.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical decisions to engineers and executives.
  • Comfort working as a peer to product and design on technical tradeoffs.
  • Remote-first availability for a U.S. or Canada-based team, with willingness to come together twice a year.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, Sidekiq, MySQL, Redis, and native iOS/Android is relevant to the stack.
