Description

  • Build and evaluate retrieval systems using chunking, embeddings, hybrid search, reranking, and vector databases.
  • Develop stateful agentic workflows with tool calling, MCP servers, structured outputs, fallbacks, and human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Create evaluation suites, regression tracking, model-as-judge scoring, and error-analysis processes.
  • Implement prompt-injection defenses, output validation, PII handling, guardrails, and graceful failure handling.
  • Deploy and operate containerized AI systems on Azure or AWS with CI/CD and observability.
  • Own system latency, token usage, throughput, and cost budgets.
  • Collaborate within client repositories, standups, and customer-facing environments.
  • Use automated codebase audits and AI-assisted development tools to maintain security, cost, and architectural quality.

Requirements

  • 4+ years building and shipping production software, primarily with a modern backend language such as Python.
  • Production experience with LLM systems, including RAG, tool calling, structured outputs, and prompt engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with pgvector, Pinecone, Qdrant, FAISS, Azure AI Search, or similar retrieval infrastructure.
  • Experience shipping stateful, tool-using systems with LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, MCP, or native Python loops.
  • Experience building LLM evaluation suites with test-set design, scoring, and regression tracking using tools such as Langfuse, Ragas, or LangSmith.
  • Cloud deployment experience with Azure or AWS, Docker, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code using Terraform, Bicep, or GitHub Actions.
  • Ability to manage and explain latency, token cost, and throughput trade-offs.
  • Active experience with Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI coding tools.
  • C1-level or higher English communication skills and confidence explaining technical trade-offs to clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience; preferred experience includes fine-tuning, open-weight inference, multimodal systems, LLM security, compliance, and high-throughput workloads.
