Description

  • Own the design and delivery of backend platform features, including breaking down complex projects into scoped tasks.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions focused on scalability, fault tolerance, multi-tenancy, and operational simplicity.
  • Collaborate on core platform services built with AWS-managed services such as Aurora, MSK/Kafka, and ClickHouse.
  • Evaluate technical trade-offs, system boundaries, and API contracts, and write clear design documentation.
  • Design high-performance microservices using gRPC, REST, and event-driven patterns.
  • Improve observability, resiliency, and SLO-driven operations across backend services.
  • Contribute to supportability through runbooks, diagnostics, and security best practices.
  • Participate in design reviews, capacity planning, incident retrospectives, on-call, and incident RCA.
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and one-on-ones.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and support recruiting efforts as needed.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with some mentoring experience.
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working on a SaaS or PaaS product with high availability and multi-tenancy exposure.
  • Strong Golang experience preferred, with production-grade gRPC microservices experience a plus.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts such as consistency, fault tolerance, service discovery, circuit breaking, and back-pressure.
  • Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and systems programming.
  • API design and versioning experience with REST and gRPC, including backward compatibility.
  • Experience designing for multi-tenancy and high availability.
  • Familiarity with AWS-managed services such as Aurora, MSK/Kafka, and ClickHouse; SQS and SNS are a plus.
  • Experience deploying and operating production services, including release management and operational readiness.
  • Understanding of observability, alerting, diagnostics, runbooks, incident response, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with AWS as the primary cloud platform and familiarity with Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation, and CI/CD for cloud-native services.
  • Nice-to-have experience with monitoring/logging/tracing tools, additional AWS services, multi-cloud environments, network security, cloud networking, SASE/SD-WAN, open-source contributions, or technical writing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborative, distributed teams.
