Description

  • Own the technical standards, architecture patterns, and best practices for all Shopify builds across the agency.
  • Stay current on Shopify releases, new APIs, and ecosystem trends, and translate them into improvements for the team and clients.
  • Serve as the technical authority on custom theme development, Liquid templating, Hydrogen/headless implementations, and API integrations.
  • Partner with Client Services and Account teams during pre-sales to assess feasibility, scope solutions, and support proposals and estimates.
  • Design and document technical architectures for complex projects, including migrations, third-party integrations, and multi-system data flows.
  • Lead end-to-end platform migrations from enterprise commerce platforms to Shopify or Shopify Plus.
  • Oversee data migration strategy for product, customer, order, and content data while minimizing disruption and preserving integrity.
  • Manage development quality by setting standards for coding, testing, deployment, documentation, security, and QA.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the development team through performance feedback, training, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with project, design, strategy, account, and client services teams to ensure clear communication and smooth delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Shopify, including Shopify Plus.
  • Deep knowledge of Liquid templating, theme customization, and API integrations.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale e-commerce replatforming projects from platforms such as Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or BigCommerce to Shopify.
  • Strong understanding of frontend and backend technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks, and REST/GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with Shopify ecosystem tools and capabilities, including custom apps, Shopify Functions, Hydrogen/Oxygen, and third-party integrations.
  • Solid understanding of data structure, mapping, and migration challenges.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and Agile methodologies, including resource allocation, budgeting, and timeline management.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with clients and non-technical stakeholders across departments.
  • Ability to think strategically and align technical decisions with client business objectives and growth.
  • Comfort working autonomously in a fast-moving environment where responsibilities may span multiple areas.
