Description

  • Define and drive the technical vision for the Platform Engineering team.
  • Lead architecture decisions for integration patterns, caching infrastructure, and shared platform services.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point and conduct design reviews to ensure platform reliability, performance, and security.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Athena EMR integrations and scalable clinical data synchronization patterns.
  • Design and implement caching strategies and build/maintain caching infrastructure with appropriate invalidation patterns.
  • Monitor and optimize platform performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
  • Partner with product engineering teams to understand their needs and provide platform solutions that accelerate development.
  • Build and maintain shared libraries, SDKs, and internal APIs to improve developer productivity.
  • Create documentation, examples, and guidelines for consuming platform services and provide technical guidance during integration efforts.
  • Collaborate with DevOps for reliable deployments and monitoring, and with Security & Compliance to maintain HIPAA compliance; contribute to platform roadmap and prioritization while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years focused on platform engineering, integrations, or backend infrastructure.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining third-party API integrations at scale.
  • Proficiency with caching technologies (Redis preferred) and performance optimization strategies.
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript/Node.js and building backend services.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
  • Preferred: experience with healthcare integrations, particularly Athena EMR, Epic, or Cerner.
  • Preferred: familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, CCD).
  • Preferred: experience building internal developer platforms or shared services and designing systems for high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Preferred: understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements for healthcare data.
