Description

  • Own the practice’s full revenue cycle from charge entry and claim creation through submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable workflows.
  • Review claims for accuracy, identify billing issues, and resolve rejections, denials, and underpayments.
  • Submit corrected claims and appeals as needed to recover reimbursement.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and report on reimbursement status.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and insurance payers without external billing vendor hand-off.
  • Manage patient balances, collections, payment arrangements, and reconciliation of payment discrepancies.
  • Answer patient billing questions and provide statements, itemized receipts, and payment histories with clear and compassionate communication.
  • Prepare and present revenue cycle reports for weekly leadership meetings using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Maintain billing compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Practice Manager, administrative staff, and CEO to resolve billing concerns and improve processes.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of medical billing or revenue cycle experience, with dedicated behavioral health billing experience required.
  • Direct hands-on Medicare billing experience, ideally Medicare Part B, with the ability to work claims independently.
  • Current HIPAA certification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the full billing lifecycle, including claims management, payment posting, denials, collections, and AR.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, insurance terminology, and payer guidelines.
  • Exceptional customer service and phone communication skills with a professional, compassionate approach.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to own the full cycle independently.
  • Working proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint to build AR aging, clean claim rate, and denial trend reports.
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or a comparable EHR/EMR, preferred.
  • Experience with Medicaid billing, preferred.
  • Experience with EAP insurers such as Lyra and ComPsych, preferred.
