Description

  • Reverse-engineer and document the ProvideX ERP architecture, including data models, keyed file structures, business rules, and process flows.
  • Design and build RESTful or GraphQL API layers that expose core ERP functions and data without rewriting the underlying system.
  • Define the integration architecture that safely connects AI tools, third-party platforms, and modern front-end experiences to ERP data and workflows.
  • Establish a service boundary map showing what remains in ProvideX, what is abstracted, and what may eventually migrate.
  • Build clean data pipelines from legacy file structures to modern data stores to support AI and ML workflows.
  • Partner with product and leadership to identify high-value AI use cases enabled by ERP data.
  • Evaluate and recommend AI tools and platforms that can plug into the API layer.
  • Own platform reliability and performance during the modernization process, including incident response and root-cause analysis.
  • Lead and grow the ERP engineering team while bridging engineering, product, support, and executive stakeholders.
  • Own the Azure environment hosting the ERP platform and drive infrastructure automation, disaster recovery, and operational hygiene.

Requirements

  • Deep experience with legacy business logic languages such as ProvideX, Business BASIC (BBx/BBj), Pick/MultiValue BASIC, RPG, or COBOL.
  • Proven track record of building API layers on top of legacy systems without full rewrites.
  • Senior engineering leadership experience overseeing mission-critical enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of keyed file structures, flat-file databases, and legacy data models.
  • Cloud infrastructure experience, preferably with Microsoft Azure.
  • Ability to communicate technical constraints and trade-offs clearly to non-technical leadership.
  • Hands-on experience with ProvideX specifically, or with Sage or SAP Business One ERP systems built on it.
  • Experience designing data pipelines that make legacy data consumable by AI/ML tools.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML integration patterns and the data/API needs of AI systems.
  • Background in ERP environments within vertical SaaS or software portfolio companies.
  • Experience with Python as a bridge language between legacy and modern systems.
