Description

  • Define and maintain system-level requirements and specifications for humanoid robot hands.
  • Develop and own the system architecture across mechanical, electrical, sensing, actuation, firmware, and controls domains.
  • Drive interface definitions between hand hardware and higher-level robot control systems.
  • Lead system integration across hardware, firmware, controls, and related robot subsystems.
  • Perform trade studies balancing performance, weight, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Develop verification and validation plans, test protocols, and performance benchmarks.
  • Partner with mechanical, electrical, embedded, controls, AI, and manufacturing teams to execute the program.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, design reviews, and supplier selection and qualification.
  • Support compliance, safety standards, and field deployment readiness.
  • Drive root cause failure analysis, fault recovery, monitoring, logging, and remote diagnostics for production fleets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Master’s and/or PhD preferred.
  • 10+ years in systems and/or software engineering, including at least 5+ years in complex robotics systems or autonomous systems.
  • Demonstrated experience owning system-level architecture of robotic or mechatronic products.
  • Deep experience designing and scaling complex hardware systems for real-time, high-DOF robotics applications.
  • Strong understanding of precision actuation, embedded systems, real-time control, sensor integration, and closed-loop control systems.
  • Experience with dexterous manipulation systems or anthropomorphic robotic hands.
  • Background in tactile sensing, impedance control, or compliant actuation.
  • Experience taking robotic hardware from prototype to production.
  • Knowledge of safety standards for collaborative robotics.
  • Strong background in systems architecture, human-machine interface design, reliability engineering, logging, telemetry, debugging, and automated test frameworks.
  • Knowledge of communications protocols, perception/camera systems, tactile sensing, and robotics manipulation applications.
  • Familiarity with human grasp taxonomies and principles of robotic manipulation.
  • Working knowledge of state-of-the-art machine learning and its applications in robotics control and manipulation.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills; collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in an R&D environment.
  • Physical ability to sit at a desk for long periods, lift up to 15 pounds, and use vision, hearing, and speech for communication.
