Description

  • Conduct on-site ergonomic assessments in industrial environments such as manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, logistics, construction, and utilities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize ergonomic risk factors including manual material handling, repetitive tasks, awkward postures, vibration, and forceful exertions.
  • Develop practical, cost-effective ergonomic solutions using engineering controls, administrative controls, and tool or equipment recommendations.
  • Collaborate with EHS, Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and other stakeholders to implement ergonomic improvements.
  • Apply published design standards to workstation design, equipment selection, process changes, and job or task design.
  • Support injury prevention efforts through MSD trend analysis, root cause investigations, and return-to-work accommodations.
  • Prepare concise technical reports, risk assessments, and recommendations in client systems or standalone reports.
  • Stay current on ergonomics standards, best practices, and regulatory expectations relevant to industrial work.
  • Maintain strong communication between clients and Apex leadership.
  • Support projects through end-to-end implementation and completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Ergonomics, Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional ergonomics experience, with an emphasis on industrial settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in manual material handling analysis.
  • Experience with task and job hazard analysis.
  • Experience using ergonomic assessment tools such as REBA, RULA, the NIOSH Lifting Equation, and the Strain Index.
  • Proven ability to manage projects through implementation of solutions that improve injury risk or process efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence front-line workers through senior leadership.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly up to 50%, including multi-day, multi-week, overnight, and potentially longer trips across the US.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional certification such as CPE, CIE, CSP, CIH, PT, or OT is preferred.
  • Experience working within EHS or injury prevention programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, automation, heavy equipment, and material handling systems is preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or enterprise-level ergonomics programs is preferred.
  • Ability to walk industrial facilities, climb stairs and ladders, and observe physical work activities.
  • Ability to lift light equipment such as measurement tools and laptops.
  • Seattle/Puget Sound area is optimal, or remote support with easy airport access is acceptable.
