Description

  • Provide technical leadership for substation engineering work and support training and development of team members.
  • Lead junior and experienced staff in completing engineering designs and producing construction drawings.
  • Drive delivery of substation projects to meet quality standards and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments and geographies to support project execution and business objectives.
  • Develop, review, and evaluate design alternatives to solve constructability and design challenges.
  • Interpret and apply internal, client, and industry procedures, standards, and codes to complex design situations.
  • Manage multiple project schedules and budgets in coordination with Project Managers and senior leadership.
  • Lead client interactions from office or field settings to answer technical and business questions and support solutions.
  • Stay open to new technologies and process improvements that increase efficiency and progress.
  • Support project work in a team-oriented environment with exposure to renewables, solar, battery energy storage, and utility interconnections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent engineering degree.
  • Preference for power-specific programs.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 5+ years of experience in substation design and engineering.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Passport required.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of software used to review plans, sections, schematics, details, wiring, and BOM sheets for construction drawing sets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering principles, industry standards, and codes.
  • Experience with modeling software for grounding, lightning, and basic electrical calculations or modeling is preferred.
  • Intermediate CAD and PDF editor knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
